10 Indian Personalities We Lost In 2021

2021 was both horrifying and a year to a new beginning for the mankind after the outbreak of COVID-19. It made us realize the importance of mental health. At the same time, it took away fine gems from us. Here’s a list of the top 10 Indian personalities we lost in 2021. Their precious work and dedication will always be remembered.

1. CDS General Bipin Rawat

Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat lost his life in a chopper crash on the 8th of December. This heartbreaking news shocked the entire nation because not only did we lose him but also 12 other officials including his wife.

About the sudden tragedy, other nations like Pakistan, the US, Russia shared condolence and expressed commiseration.

2. Dilip Kumar

Legendary actor of Bollywood, Dilip Kumar died on the 7th of July at the age of 98. The confirmation of his death was done via his Twitter handle when a close family friend tweeted, ‘With a heavy heart and profound grief, I announce the passing away of our beloved Dilip Saab, a few minutes ago. We are from God and to Him, we return.’ His body was laid in peace at the Juhu Qabrastan.

Many big celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor, Vidya Balan, and Abhishek Bachchan arrived at his funeral to pay the last respect.

3. Punnett Rajkumar

South Indian star, Punneth Rajkumar died at 46 due to a cardiac arrest. This leading actor was best known for his acting prowess, romance, and charming personality. Not only was he a brilliant actor but also a playback singer, anchor, and producer.

To pay the tribute, lakhs of fans gathered in Bengaluru.

4. Vinod Dua

Vinod Dua was a popular Indian journalist who showed his great work in NDTV India as well as in Doordarshan. He died on the 4th of December at the age of 67. Since his hospitalization during COVID-19, he was very ill. His younger daughter, Mallika Dua announced his death on Instagram.

5. Bikramjeet Kanwarpal

Popular film actor and TV star, Bikramjeet Kanwarpal passed away on May 1 at 52. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit broke out the news of his death on Twitter with a note saying, ‘Sad to hear about the demise of actor Major Bikramjeet Kanwarpal this morning due to #Covid. A retired army officer, Kanwarpal had played supporting roles in many films and television serials. Heartfelt condolences to his family & near one. ॐ शान्ति!

6. Abhilasha Patil

Abhilasha Patil appeared in many Bollywood films. She got featured in Chhichhore as Raghav’s nurse (Sushant Singh Rajput’s son). Another hit film where she appeared was ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ The Actress passed away after battling COVID-19.

7. Shravan Rathod

Shravan Rathod was a great music composer who died on April 23 after testing positive for COVID-19. The music composer got admitted to Mahim after getting into a critical condition. However, he couldn’t survive the test of time.

Singer Udit Narayan said, ‘I have come to the Kumbh Mela for the holy bath. I told him that he should’ve told me about this earlier and that I could have also gone with him. But after he got off the phone, I thought to myself that during the pandemic, why did he go there? He already had health issues, yet he went there. He didn’t listen to others and went there, and now he is no longer with us. May his soul rest in peace.’

8. Raj Kaushal

Raj Kaushal was Mandira Bedi’s husband who passed away on June 30 at 4:30 am after getting sudden cardiac arrest. Raj Kaushal’s close friend confirmed the report by saying, ‘It is true, he suffered a cardiac arrest early in the morning.’

He will always be known for his best-directing work in ‘Shaadi Ka Laddoo’, and ‘Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi’ The director’s last rites got performed by Mandira Bedi.

9. Rinku Singh Nikumbh

Rinku Singh Nikumbh appeared in Ayushmann Khurrana’s movie ‘Dream Girl’ The actor was just 35 when she passed away after being diagnosed with a novel coronavirus. She also went through the quarantine process.

Her sister said, ‘After she tested positive she preferred home isolation. From May 25 to May 28, she had a high fever. We immediately decided to admit her to the hospital. She was shifted to the ICU the next day. She told Rinku felt a lot of weakness. Besides, she had asthma and so she had breathing issues too. Her oxygen level dropped. She died on June 2 at 5 am’

10. Kishore Nadlaskar

Kishore Nadlaskar was a popular actor who appeared in several Bollywood as well as Marathi movies. He got featured in well-known movies like ‘Vaastav’, ‘Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai’ and  ‘Simmba’ He took his last breath on April 20.
