Dams are becoming the perfect outing places to chill, especially during weekends. There is so much to explore here. People come to these dams for picnics, recreational activities and enjoy the serene environment.  Well-Known dams of Bhopal

1) Bhadbhada Dam

These dams are a group of 11 sluice gates located at the southeast corner of Upper Lake in Bhopal. It was set up in 1965. These gates are usually meant to control the outflow of water from the lake to the Kaliasote river and are unfurled only when there is excessive rainfall during monsoon season. It is situated at Suraj Nagar in front of the National Judicial Academy. Most people are seen here during monsoon season to relish the beautiful landscape view.

2) Halali Dam

It is a reservoir developed across Halali river in Raisen District of Madhya Pradesh. It is located on the outskirts of Bhopal city situated 40 km away from it. Notably Halali river is tributary of Betwa river, and it is also known as Samrat Ashok Sagar Project. People often come here to spend weekends. It is also known for delightful Boat rides. One of an MP tourism’s hotel is setup here where there is even the facility of good accommodation for tourists and grand parties are also organized during New year and other occasions.

3) Kaliyasot Dam

This place is adored by many youngsters, located in the proximity of many educational institutes like IEHE and JLU Bhopal, it is the becoming the first choice for youth, during their free time they come here to relax, even make assignments as they get the peaceful environment. It is sited in Chunabhatti and Nehru Nagar resident colony in the mid of Bhopal. The fact to be noted about this dam is, it is used for irrigation of Rabi crops in Bhopal and Raisen districts of Madhya Pradesh from November to April, and secondly, extreme rainfall of Bhopal is controlled by Kaliyasot waterlogging.

4) Kerwa Dam

Kerwa dam Bhopal is becoming one of the popular picnic spots due to its lush green surroundings and exotic view, it is located about 15 km away from the hustle-bustle of the city. Various adventurous and sports activities are also organized here like Mud racing, bike riding, bird watching camps. 5) Kolar dam

Kolar Dam

It is built on the Kolar river, a tributary of the Narmada river near Lawakhweri village in Sehore District. Kolar river emerges from Vindhya Mountain ranges in the Sehore district of MP and flows in a southwest direction. It facilitates 70% of filtered water to the Bhopal district and is mainly built to fulfill water availability for irrigation purposes in nearby areas. Mp tourism also has plans to make it more interesting so as to attract more tourists. Soon it will become an impending tourist spot for visitors.
