Akshaya Tritiya or Akha Teej is one of the most auspicious days, according to the Hindu and Jain communities. On this day, you will see a huge gathering alongside the temples and jewellery shops. Because believe that this is the best day for buying gold, property, or even starting a new business. So, let us find out what is so important about this day and what is the story behind it.
According to Legends, there is a story of Lord Krishna and his closest friend Sudama who used to live and study together in Gurukul. One day, they were dispatched to the forest to collect woods with some puffed rice for a meal.
But the rain began suddenly, so they took shelter behind the different trees. In the meantime, Sudama ate all the rice himself and was bound to pay it back in a different form.
After the years, Lord Krishna became the king of Duarika, whereas Sudama lived in abject poverty. But after too many years of suffering, Sudama decided to visit his childhood friend Krishna and left with some amount of rice. When Sudama reaches Daurika, Krishna became overjoyed at the arrival of his friend and provides him royal treatment.
People say that Lord Krishna ate the rice of Sudama and took his poverty away. After this event, the celebration of Akshaya Tritiya started. Some people also believe that the celebration is started on the birth anniversary of Lord Parshuram.
According to Drik Panchang, Puja Mahurat of Akshaya Tritiya is from 5:39 am to 12:38 pm on May 3. The Tritiya Tithi will commence from 5:18 am on May 3 to 7:32 am on May 4. The best time to buy gold is from 5:39 am on May 3 to 5:38 am on May 4.
