This month GIFLIF is organizing drive-in music festival on February 13-14 on Shyamla Hills....
The world’s most lauded film event, the Cannes film festival 2022, has been set into motion from today and this time it's special for India as it is chosen as the ‘Country of Honour.’ India is the first country to receive this prestigious honor. Besides this, 6 Indian movies will be a part of the event but they won’t be judged for the Palme d’Or award.
All the 6 films are only selected for screening at Palais des Festivals et des Congres in France. Here are the names of those lucky movies.
Indian Movies at Cannes Film Festival 2022
Rocketry is a movie based on the life of one of the famous scientists of ISRO- Nambi Narayanan. The background is set on a challenging event of his life when he was accused of leaking important documents and secrets of the country’s defense system.
Actor R Madhavan is playing the lead role in Rocketry. The movie will release on 1st July 2022 in 6 different languages- Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, English, Kannada, and Malayalam.
2. Alpha Beta Gamma
The only Hindi movie to be screened at the Cannes film festival 2022 is Shanka Srikumar’s directed Alpha Beta Gamma. It is a romantic comedy movie of 3 persons who are stuck in a strange relationship during the lockdown. Alpha Beta Gamma was released in 2021.
Another Indian movie at Cannes is a Marathi feature film Godavari which is directed by Nikhil Mahajan. The film was released in 2021, had its world premiere at the Vancouver International film festival, and won 2 awards at the 52nd International film festival. It’s a story of a family dealing with the deaths of their close relatives.
Dhuin is a wonderful story that is relatable to many aspiring young actors in India. Pankaj, the main lead of the movie, wants to make a career in acting and thus dreams of going to Mumbai one day.
However, like every second Indian’s life; he is also obligated to responsibilities of family. His financial condition doesn’t support him in pursuing his acting dream. What will he choose- family or dream?
Dhuin got an 8.3-star rating on IMDb and also got the big screen at Mumbai Film Festival.
5. Boomba Ride
Boomba is set in the deep of India’s education system which still needs to be brought to light. The movie tells how corruption has made the rural education system hollow like a termite does with wood.
It is a story of Boomba, the only student in the school, and the struggle of school teachers to keep the education and school alive.
6. Niraye Thathakalulla Maram
Last on the list of films screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2022 is this Malayalam movie. Niraye Thathakalulla Maram is a simple story of a boy and how he helps a visually impaired man reach his home.
Devdas, Gangs of Wasseypur, Masaan, Baahubali: The Beginning, and Sarbijit were a few Bollywood films screened at Cannes.
Movies in Competition at 75th Cannes Film Festival
Around 22 films, out of which only 7 are in the competition for the Palme d’Or but the winner, will be only one. Here’s the list of movies competing for the trophy:

Aftersun and Summer Scars are picked for Critics’ Week whereas fives movies are listed for Director’s Fortnight. These are -The Five Devils, Funny Pages, Men, One Fine Morning, and Paris Memories. Butterfly Vision, Corsage, Joyland, and The Stranger are in the Un Certain Regard.
