On this day, one should avoid buying black goods or clothes, iron items, pointed items like knives, scissors, blades, pins, plastic items, steel and aluminium items.

It is also forbidden to buy medicines on Dhanteras day.

What to buy on Dhanteras:

On the day of Dhanteras, buying new things like gold, silver, brass is considered very auspicious. Gold itself is in the form of Goddess Lakshmi.
