Benedict Cumberbatch starred Dr Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had a grand opening weekend at the Indian box office. Playing over 2500 screens, the magic man movie earned Rs. 95 crores in its first weekend. By this huge income, it delivers the fourth-biggest opening weekend for Hollywood in India. As compared to the first Dr strange movie in November 2016, the numbers are 6.8 times higher.
After the 95 Crore opening weekend, Dr Strange had written its name behind Avengers: Endgame (Rs 191 Crores), Avengers: Infinity War (Rs 123 Crores), and Spiderman: No Way Home (Rs 95.50 Crores). The movie is only 50 lakhs short to take over Spiderman: No Way Home.
The movie was released on Friday and it's the biggest day for the movie. After it, the collection drops by 6 per cent on Saturday and 5 per cent drop on Sunday. Generally, the box office collection jump on the weekends, but it drops out of the ordinary. The box office collections of Dr Strange in India are as follows:
Friday: Rs. 33.50 Crores
Saturday: Rs. 31.50 Crores
Sunday: Rs. 30 Crores
The movie has also opened strongly at the International level. It earned $450 million during the global weekend. Out of which, around $190 Million is from North America only, and the rest $260 Million was earned internationally. India is the fifth-biggest market after Korea, UK, Mexico, and Brazil.
