Yash Chopra entered the industry with his directorial debut, Dhool Ka Phool in 1959 and his last movie as a director was Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Yash Chopra, Bollywood’s king of romance is known for his exceptional romantic dramas in bollywood, which are iconic and still remembered.

The filmmaker is known for his timeless movies like Silsila (1981), Chandni (1989), Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) and more, he certainly changed the perspective of love and friendship through cinema.  Romance and evergreen music were the main USP of his movies. WAQT (1965)

This multi-starrer movie included Sunil Dutt, Raaj Kumar, Balraj Sahni, Sharmila Tagore, Shashi Kapoor Madan Puri, Achala Sachdev, Sadhana, and Rehman. Chopra received his first Filmfare Award for Best Director for this movie. He is also known to have started the trend of multistarrer in movies. Ae Meri Zohra Jabeen, sung by Manna Dey is a song that is still loved my music lovers.

SILSILA (1981)

Silsila is that one timeless classic which has gathered a cult of its own. Starring the one and only Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Ms. Rekha, Shashi Kapoor, as lead roles, the film is epitome of romance. Ye kahan aa gye hum is still one of the most heard songs of this movie. It is a story of extra marital affair and about falling for the wrong person. This movie was the last one where we saw Mr Bachchan and Rekha on screen together. Chopra co-wrote the screenplay for this one.

DARR (1993)

After Shah Rukh Khan's first hit Deewana (1992) this movie featured him in dark role. The film follows the story of an obsessive, psychopathic stalker played by Shah Rukh Khan amazingly well. Despite this movie being an experiment from the romance king, it went on to be the third highest grosser that year.

VEER-ZAARA

(2004) After an hiatus of 7 long years, Chopra returned with this iconic movie. Featuring Shah Rukh, Preity Zinta, Amitabh, and Manoj Vajpayee as the lead roles. The film dissolved the boundaries as it shows a story of an Indian squadron leader called Veer, falling in love with a Pakistani girl Zaara. The story showed their struggle of being apart due to their nationalities but coming together in the end somehow.

JAB TAK HAI JAAN (2012)

Post Veer-Zaara, Chopra again took a long gap and returned to his seat after 8 long years. This movie starred again, Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif & Anushka Sharma as the lead roles. This movie was Chopra's last directorial movie celebrated across nation.
