Pakistani cricketer Hasan Ali had an unforgettable outing, both as a bowler and a fielder, against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final on Thursday. The bowler wasn't just hit all over the match by the Australian batters but he also managed to drop a potentially game-changing catch of Matthew Wade in the 19th over.
Pakistan was on the top of the leader board and because of this, the team went on to lose the match by 5 wickets, Hasan naturally became a target of trolls on social media. Fans hurled insults at the medium-pacer, blaming him for making Pakistan lose a place in the final of the tournament.
Hasan Ali went for as many as 44 runs in his quota of 4 overs without taking a single wicket. He was then provided with a moment to redeem himself as Wade hit the third ball of the 19th over towards the mid-wicket boundary. As Hasan ran for the catch, he misjudged a little and was unable to make the catch.
The dropped catch was the game-changing moment as Wade went on to hit all of the remaining three deliveries of the over from Shaheen for sixes, chasing the target of the match with one whole over to left. As Hasan's dropped catch potentially deprived Pakistan of a place in the final, fans took it to Social Media to vent out their anger at the cricketer.
Let’s take a look at some of the Twitter reactions:

Dear Pakistan, Hasan Ali's Wife wasn't playing for you. Please don't abuse her.— Keshu Eleban (@Keshu__11) November 11, 2021
You don't want to be Hasan Ali tonight. Catches do get dropped, Hasan Ali would have never meant to drop it.
Avenge your anger somewhere else. Hit a wall, take a deep breath, smoke or do whatever. Don't abuse any player.#PAKvAUS #T20WorldCup— Israr Ahmed Hashmi (@IamIsrarHashmi) November 11, 2021
The abuse Hasan Ali is facing is mind boggling. This is the same Hasan Ali who’s name was chanted after CT17, the same guy who’s celebration people copied and now that he’s having a rough patch it’s okay to abuse him? The ugly side of sports, I hate it.— Zubeda Ismail (@zubedaismail) November 11, 2021
Never seen such hate for cricketer...
Just because he is a Shia and His wife is an Indian, who gives the right to abuse Hasan Ali??
Pathetic People Pathetic Country!!#istandwithhasanali #HasanAli #PAKVSAUS— Online hakeem (@theonlinehakeem) November 11, 2021
Pak cricketer Hasan Ali is being targeted, abused in #Pakistan bcz he is a Shia and his wife an #Indian. It’s terribly sad & frustrating. Are Shia less Pakistani than the rest? What if he would have won the match for Pakistan? Sad reality of oppression of #minorities.#PAKVSAUS pic.twitter.com/IMI7EWtoEt— RAVEN (@denverguy217) November 11, 2021
