Mouth ulcers also known as canker sores, are small, round lesions that occur inside the mouth at the gums, inside the lips or on the tongue. It becomes extremely painful and irritating that a person is unable to eat, communicate , sleep and feels fatigue and feverish. It usually lasts for 10-15 days and disappear on its own but if it is long lasting, it is recommended to consult a doctor.
Ulcers are caused by many factors such as deficiency of Vitamin B12, C, zinc, iron, accidental biting of lips or tongue which even creates skin rednning, hormonal disbalance, extreme acidity, stress, or even some accidents which causes severe mouth injury, with toothpaste which contains certain chemicals, intake of excessive caffeine or chocolate, one of the biggest reasons can be “Pitta Dosha” or the immoderate heating of the body.
But there are some easy ways which you can try at home to cure ulcers easily.
1) Corn Flour Paste
It is the biggest healer of mouth ulcers. Just take 1 tbsp of corn flour and 1 tbsp of water, mix it properly and apply it on your sores for 4-6 hours or whole night and after that wash your mouth with water.
2) Fenugreek seeds
Boil fenugreek seeds ( methi dana) in water, remove the seeds and gargle your mouth with this water 2-3 times a day, you can even drink this water, it is not harmful.
3) Turmeric Paste
Turmeric is an ayurvedic healer , and heals almost everything, it has anti inflammatory which helps to get rid ulcers pain, it even boosts the immune system. Just take a pinch of Turmeric powder and little water to make thick paste, you also mix it glycerin, and apply this paste on infected part for some time and then rinse your mouth properly, you can do this at any time but it will be more useful to do in the moring and night before sleeping.
4) Red Rice water or Tandulodaka
Tandulodaka is the part of Ayurveda granth which tells about the removal of heat from body. It has the tendency to cure ulcers as well as it is rich in vitamin B too.Take 10 gm of rice, use red rice or semi brown rice for this purpose, grind it coarsely with mortar and pestle and put in the mud glass, cup or pot and pour 60 ml water( normal water) over it, cover it and leave it undisturbed for 4-6 hours, after filter the rice water in a glass and drink it. Remember neither freeze the water nor put any ice cubes in it. Just drink it like that.
5) Salt water
Mix some salt in a moderately warm water and gargle the mouth with this water 4-5 times a day, it will ease the pain and helps to get rid of ulcers quickly.
6) Tender Coconut Water
Coconut water consists of minerals, Vitamin C ,some amounts of Vitamin B like Riboflavin, Niacin and some major minerals, Drinking tender Coconut water gives sudden relief from the pain of ulcers and is also beneficial for healing ulcers.
Honey has antibacterial and aseptic properties so it helps healing mouth infections, any scratches in the tongue and even mouth ulcers. Just apply honey on the lesion part , it may happen that you swallow it alongwith so apply honey it frequently.
8) Food supplements
Incorporate the diet which is rich in Vitamin B ,C and calcium such as Yogurt, buttermilk, cheese, shrikhand, orange juice, paneer, amla, broccoli, strawberries, watermelon, cabbage juice etc.
9) Tulsi leaves
Its divine and medicinal properties helps to get rid of mouth ulcers immediately. Just chew some leaves and drink water after it.
10) Aloe Vera
Pluck Aloe vera directly from the plant and apply its gel or drink Aloe vera juice, it has anti inflammatory properties which helps to prevent ulcers.
It’s the blend of three Indian fruits and is considered as the best Ayurvedic healer. Mix its herbal powder with water, this will create a potion. Hold this mélange for 2-3 minutes and spit it out. Atleast gargle it once a day. It is recommender to be the superior healer of all diseases.
12) Plenty Of water
Drink lots of water and be hydrated, drink atleast 10-15 glasses of water a day, it helps to reduce acid in the stomach, and you feel relieved.
Lastly Ulcers can be permanently prevented if you take care of certain things like avoid certain acidic viands, chilies , processed foods, aerated drinks, deep fried foods, alcohol, quit smoking. Have a proper time table, sleep and don’t take unnecessary stress.
