India Pays Homage To War Heroes On Kargil Vijay Diwas

Indian Army created history and made every Indian proud on 26 July 1999 by defeating Pakistan in Kargil’s ‘Operation Vijay’ in 1999. India celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas on Monday by paying tribute to the war heroes of the Kargil War.

Kargil Diwas is celebrated to pay homage to more than 500 heroes who sacrificed their lives during the 60-day long war in Kargil in May 1999. India remembers the extraordinary tales of our brave hearts on July 26.

History Of Kargil War

The Indian armed forces defeated Pakistan on July 26, 1999. Since then, the day is celebrated as ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ to rekindle the honour and valour of the soldiers who fought bravely in Operation Vijay of Kargil War.

Why Kargil Diwas Is Celebrated?

26 July marks the victory of Indian soldiers in recapturing the mountain heights that were occupied by the Pakistani Army in July 1999, known as the Kargil Diwas or Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Three officers namely Captain Vikram Batra, Grenadier Yogendra Singh Yadav and Captain Manoj Pandey were honored with the Param Vir Chakra for their courage and sacrifice. 

President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the heroes on Kargil war day. Netizens flooded twitter to pay homage to bravehearts on this day.
