Before the mega auction of IPL 2022, the list of retained players came up. Eight franchises spent Rs 269 crore to retain a total of 27 players. 19 players are Indians and the rest 8 are foreigners. The lottery opens for Venkatesh Iyer, who is making his debut for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2021. KKR maintained it directly from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 8 crore. That means his salary increased 40 times. Similarly, 4 uncapped players have become millionaires in one night. Let’s take a look, who are those players.

Venkatesh Iyer makes his international debut against New Zealand

For IPL 2022, eight franchises have announced their list of retained players. It features a number of amazing names, which the franchise has linked to buying paying large sums. The biggest name on this list is Venkatesh Iyer. He made his international debut against New Zealand in October. He had earlier played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2021. Despite his seasonal experience in the league, he has been retained by KKR with a straight salary of Rs 20 lakh to Rs 8 crore for IPL 2022. His salary has increased 40 times.

Abdul Samad's fate was revealed in the retention list

Sunrisers Hyderabad has acquired 20-year-old Jammu and Kashmir all-rounder Abdul Samad for a base price of Rs 20 lakh in his IPL 2020. But Samad's fate was also revealed in the retention list released for IPL 2022. Hyderabad paid him 20 times more and paid him Rs 4 crore. Samad took 1 wicket for 75 runs in 7 matches in IPL 2021. He scored 111 runs in 12 matches played in IPL 2020. Samad then went on to score 170 runs.

Punjab Kings retained 2 players

Punjab Kings retained only 2 players for IPL 2022. The team includes opener Mayank Agarwal and uncapped Indian Arshdeep Singh. Arshdeep, 20, was bought by Punjab Kings in 2019 for a face value of Rs 20 lakh and retained at Rs 4 crore with a salary 20 times higher. Arshdeep's performance in IPL 2021 was excellent. He took 18 wickets in 12 matches. Arshdeep took one wicket for every 14 balls in this year's IPL. He has taken 30 wickets in 23 league matches so far.

Umaran Malik's fast bowling surprised everyone

Sunrisers Hyderabad has decided to retain Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler, Umran Malik, for IPL 2022. Umran made his IPL debut in 2021. He was bought by Hyderabad for Rs 10 lakh. But he too has been retained at Rs four crore. He has played only 3 matches so far, in which he has taken 2 wickets. But his speed had surprised everyone. Umran was bowling at a speed of 152.95 kmph in IPL 2021.
