I'm eagerly awaiting many things in the future, but my favorite is when my kid watches one of my matches and proudly proclaims, 'that's my mom!' I can't wait to hear them say that!
Naomi Osaka Tennis Career
On Wednesday, Osaka revealed that she is not going to take part in the 2023 Australian Open, which she had previously stated in a social media post.
However, the Japanese tennis star stated that she is planning to return to the Australian Open in 2024.
After her stunning win over Serena Williams in the 2018 U.S. Open Final, the 25-year-old tennis star gained worldwide recognition.
Osaka went on to win the next four Grand Slam tournaments—the 2019 Australian Open, 2020 U.S. Open, and 2021 Australian Open—cementing her place in history as one of the few players to ever accomplish this feat.
Despite being the highest-paid female athlete in the world, she faced criticism after revealing her battle with mental health issues that led to her withdrawal from the 2021 French Open.
Her decision to forgo the mandatory media appearances resulted in a fine of $15,000, and tournament officials even threatened to expel her.
After her defeat in the 2021 U.S. Open, Osaka revealed her intention to take a break from tennis for an indefinite period of time.
This move received much praise from fellow athletes for her courage to speak openly about her mental health issues.
At a news conference, Osaka declared that she was unsure of when her next tennis match would be and that she would be taking a break from playing for the time being.
Osaka looked back on her hiatus from the sport in May and made the announcement of establishing her own sports agency. Additionally, she published a children's book last month.
