UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is in big trouble due to the party gate scandal and may resign anytime due to party pressure. If he resigns then it is expected that the Indian-born Rishi Sunak could be the next PM of the UK.

What is the party gates Scandal?

When the whole world was fighting against the deadly virus in the first lockdown, Britain PM Boris Johnson was breaking his own government’s law, where he attended a party full of booze and fun. On this Wednesday, Johnson accepted that he went to attend the party to thank his staff for their love and support.

But tables got turned when the public and the media charged him. The Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social care of the UK said, “The Prime Minister is not fit to lick the boots of NHS staff in the country”.

Labour leader Keir Starmer supported the opposition party for Johnson’s resignation.

Who is Rishi Sunak?

Rishi Sunak, an Indian Origin Chancellor, married Akashata Murthy daughter of N.R. Narayana Murthy founder and CEO of Infosys

He is a member of the Conservative Party as well as a Chancellor of the Exchequer since February 2020. He has also served as Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2019 to 2020, from 2015 an honorable Member of Parliament for Richmond (Yorks) in North Yorkshire.

Why Sunak?

On Wednesday, when Johnson issued his public apology, Sunak was missing from the House of Common Chamber. Later he tweeted, “I’ve been on a visit all day today continuing work on our #PlanForJobs as well as meeting MPs to discuss the energy situation”, he further said, “The PM was right to apologize and I support his request for patience while Sue Gray carries out her inquiry,”.He still leads the betting at 15/8. His studies and work as Chancellor add the brownie points in his chances to be the next Prime Minister of Britain.
