Today, PM Narendra Modi launched 5G services at the event of 6th India Mobile Congress 2022. It is the fourth day of this event at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
So finally, the wait for 5G is over and users can enjoy its services post-Diwali. Several top companies such as Airtel, Reliance Jio and Qualcomm have demonstrated their 5G services and benefits to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
PM Modi spent a lot of time at the event understanding the end-to-end development of 5G technology and how it could help in filling the gap between urban and rural healthcare.
He said, “We should use the launch of 5G services for the unprecedented growth and economic development of the country."
“Today, India is the world's 5th largest economy. This provides an opportunity for our entrepreneurs, innovators, and for every citizen to become part of this journey towards a New India," said Modi.
The latest 5G networks not only provide users with faster internet speeds but also help governments in areas such as disaster management and agriculture.
Telecom giants such as Jio and Airtel will first roll out their 5G in four of these cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai.
This does not mean that everyone living in these cities will have access to her 5G everywhere.
It is likely to take some time, but at least users can partially enjoy 5G coverage.
And the best part is that the government has already confirmed that Indian users will not have to pay a lot for 5G plans as they will start at an affordable price.
Chairman of Reliance Industries, Mukesh Ambani also announced that “Jio will ensure the highest quality and lowest price anywhere in the world." He has promised to roll out his 5G across India by December 2023.
