Ravi Shastri Shocking Remarks, Find Out What Made Him Quit As The Indian Cricket Team Coach

Ravi Shastri took off as the Indian Cricket Team’s head coach after finishing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, 2021 that took place in UAE last month.

Under his coaching period, the Indian Team’s achievements are plenty. India has created history and won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, twice. In the Test series against England, the team was leading 2-1, which ended ahead of time due to the COVID-19 outbreak in the camp.

India even won the white-ball series which took place in South Africa, New Zealand, England, and Australia with Shastri as the coach. While touring West Indies, the Indian Team ended up beating the hosts in shorter formats and they also suppressed them in a Test series for the first time.

In the latest interview with the Times of India, Shastri contemplated on his coaching title, where he said that the Indian team succeeded under his guidance when there were people who wanted him and his side to fail.

He said, “I was always surrounded with negativities around but luckily, I did not spare time for all of that. But those who know me well will know how these things can affect me as I take these things to heart.

“The more this team kept achieving the more I could laugh at these people’s jealousy and insecurities. We kept performing better, the more people wanted the team to fail,” he told TOI.

Appointed as head coach in 2017, the former Indian Cricket Team Coach, also opened up about exactly the moment when he decided to quit.

“Sometime before we left for England this year, I had already made up my mind to move on later in time. There were a couple of reasons that still needed attention. The first one was, I was almost 60 and there were certain Supreme Court rules and all.

“Second reason was, the quarantine and I knew that the bio-bubbles won’t go anywhere for further two years. Cricket will be played separately and that’s what’s happening right now too.”

“So, I said enough. I have to put a full stop to this as I can’t do it anymore,” Shastri said.

Team India enjoyed great success across all formats while under Ravi Shastri, but unfortunately they weren’t able to win an ICC tournament.
