Shershaah Movie Review: Sidharth Malhotra Shines In Inspiring War Drama

‘Shershaah’, biopic based on the life of Param Vir Chakra awardee, late Captain Vikram Batra was released today. Actor Sidharth Malhotra is playing the lead role as Captain Vikram Batra. The film is directed by Vishnu Varadhan who is making his debut in Bollywood after working in Tamil cinema. Movie is written by Sandeep Shrivastava who chronicled the life of the braveheart quite convincingly.

Sidharth Malhotra As Vikram Batra

Sidharth Malhotra plays the role of Captain Vikram with perfection. Kiara Advani as Vikram Batra’s fiancée, Dimple Cheema, also gets into the character very well. The onscreen chemistry between the leading pair is definitely romantic.

Sher Shah of Operation Vijay

‘Shershaah’ is an honest tribute to Captain Vikram Batra’s bravery.  Captain Vikram sacrificed his life for the nation during 1999 Kargil war while leading ‘Operation Vijay’- one of the toughest operations in mountain warfare. Sher Shah was his code name, which translates to Lion King, the man that he was.

The film evokes patriotism and emotions and will definitely make your teary towards the end. The war sequences are convincing enough to give you goosebumps.  Supporting actors including Sahil Vaid, Shiv Pandit, Nikiten Dheer, Himanshoo A Malhotra among others have alleviated the film with their small parts.

The film is a perfect Independence Day watch and it’s now streaming on Amazon Prime.
