The last couple of years have not been in Hardik Panyda’s favour which has led him to fall back in the Indian Team Players order and Mumbai Indians as well. After not up to the mark performance in IPL 2021, the all-rounder could not impress his fans in the 2021 T20 World Cup and eventually got dropped from the team and was asked to work on his fitness.
The IPL franchise that gave him the opportunity to showcase his talent to the world chose not to retain him for the first time in the latest IPL retention 2022 ahead of the mega auction.
Mumbai Indian IPL 2022 Retentions:
With only four retentions allowed, the IPL champions had to make some very tough choices and they decided to retain Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav and Kieron Pollard, leaving out the Panyda and young Ishan Kishan players who have been a part of the MI core group for several seasons.
After the retention snub, the all-rounder from Gujarat took it to social media and posted an emotional message, thanking Mumbai Indians players and fans for giving him countless memories that he will cherish for the rest of his life.

“My journey with @mumbaiindians. I’ll carry these memories with me for the rest of my life, I’ll carry these moments with me for the rest of my life. The friends I’ve made, the bonds that were formed, the people, the fans, I’ll always be grateful,” Hardik wrote while sharing a video montage on Instagram.
“I’ve grown not just as a player but as a person. I came here as a youngster with big dreams: we won together, we lost together, we fought together. Every moment with this team has a special place in my heart. They say all good things must end but @mumbaiindians will remain in my heart forever,” he added.
The all-rounder hasn’t made an official announcement but some fans believe that with this caption, he has hinted at his permanent exit from the franchise and the fans won’t be seeing him in his Mumbai Indian jersey again.

The reports of KL Rahul being approached by the Lucknow franchise are out there. It is said that Hardik might be joining his best friend with whom he shares a great friendship. If Hardik decides to step out of IPL, it will bring an end to the exciting journey that saw him win four IPL titles in the last seven years.
