Various Indian brands have used International names to grab the attention of consumers. Here is a list of the top 9 Indian brands that we thought were international. 

1. Van Heusen

The name appears to be an international brand, but you will be amazed to know that this famous brand is owned by Madura Fashion and Lifestyle. The brand advertises men's apparel things, including shirts, jackets, t-shirts, trousers, and innerwear. It is India's biggest and leading clothing brand that addresses style, elegance, leisure, and comfort.

2. La Opala

When you hear La Opala, what comes to your mind? Don’t you think that the name of the brand appears to be French? However, the brand and its items are 100% Indian. Mr. Sushil Jhunjhunwala presented Opal Glass in India in 1988 under the brand "La Opala". It offers high-end tableware to consumers.

3. Royal Enfield

Royal Enfield is an Indian motorcycle-producing brand that has its factories in Chennai. It was established in 1955 when the Redditch company partnered with Madras Motors.

Royal Enfield was originally a British Motorcycle Company, however today it is owned by Indian automaker Eicher Motors Limited. Interestingly, the company is one of the oldest motorcycle brands in the country. 

4. Allen Solly

Allen Solly- the renowned brand never fails in delivering comfort and class. The garments brand is owned by the Aditya Birla Group. The brand was introduced by William Holin in 1774 and further purchased by Madura Garments in 1990. Later, Aditya Birla Group acquired the brand from Madura Garments.

5. Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo Fashion Ltd sells its clothing items under the brand Monte Carlo, set up in 1984 by Oswal Woolen Mills Limited. It is owned by the parent company Nahar Group situated in Ludhiana, Punjab. The brand not only produces quality products but also provides luxury to the consumers. 

6. Peter England

Whenever we hear such English names, we start wondering whether it is an Indian or a British brand? Although you will be surprised to know that Peter England was begun by Madura Fashion in 1997 and it is completely an Indian brand.

The company is a division of Aditya Birla Fashion and Lifestyle. It is one of the most popular and leading menswear brands in India.

7. Louis Philippe

Undoubtedly, this one is also an Indian brand. The company was begun by the Aditya Birla Group , Madura Fashion, and Lifestyle, in 1989. The name of this company was inspired by the name of a French King. The company produces chic and high-class menswear.

8. Lakme

Lakme is another Indian beauty care product brand that is owned by Hindustan Unilever. The company was initiated in 1952 as a subsidiary of Tata Oil Mills. It was named after a famous French musical play, Lakme, which means Lakshmi.

9. Old Monk

Old Monk is a famous Indian dark rum, established in 1954 and created in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. It is a dark rum with a particular vanilla flavor, blended, mixed, and aged for at least 7 years. Since 1982, Old Monk has received several gold medals at Monde World Selections.

We all grew up thinking these brands were international, but these national companies have successfully fooled us with their international names.
