World’s Smallest Mosque Dhai Seedi Ki Masjid Where Only Three People Can Go At A Time

Bhopal is famous for the many gems that the city holds. It has been a popular city for surreal landscapes, iconic buildings, and heritage sites. Among all the worth visiting places, Dhai seedi ki masjid is one of them. Dhai Seedi Ki Masjid translates to two-step mosque is the world’s smallest mosque which is in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh India. It is also the first mosque in Bhopal which was built 300 years ago. 

The Reason Behind The Name

The name of the mosque is unique and has a story of its own. Two and a half stairs lead to this popular mosque and also it has only two and a half rooms. This was the reason behind the naming of this mosque. 

The History

The mosque is built in the old city of Bhopal and was located on the Fatah Garkhille on the banks of a pond. Noor Mohammad Khan and his brother in law Mohammad Khan built this mosque. They both came to India from the city of Torah in Afghanistan.

The foundation stone while building this mosque was laid by Quazim Mohammad Moazzam Saheb. The western side of the fort was given the form of a mosque. It was built in the 18th century and is of 16 square metres from inside. 

To visit this iconic place in Bhopal one can go through by entering the Hamidia Hospital grounds opposite to Taj-Ul-masjid, turn right and follow the Gandhi Campus road.
