Want To Quit Alcohol? Here Are The Ways

In India, approximately 160 million consume alcohol, of which 88% of youth below 25 years consume alcohol. Out of 55%, people face domestic violence because of alcohol. If you are addicted to alcohol, you must know it is not easy to quit drinking alcohol.

Here are some of the steps that you can follow, if you want to stop drinking.

Steps to Quit Alcohol

  1. Acknowledgment

If you want to quit alcohol, first you have to acknowledge that you are addicted to drinks. Once you accept it, you can go to the next step.

  1. Reduce

Quitting alcohol suddenly might affect your health. So, take small steps and limit your drinks.

  1. Reason

Find your reason to quit, once you have the good motivation it will keep you going. Being sober is a journey, not a destination.

  1. Set Goal

Decide till what time you want to quit the drink and act accordingly. 

  1. Let everyone know

Once you are clear with your goals and reasons. You can let everyone know that you are trying to quit the alcohol so that you can have their support whenever needed.

  1. Stay away

Try to stay away from alcohol, and the people who consume it. Don't keep bottles at your home or near your surrounding.

  1. Replace it

If you are getting craving and not able to control your urge for alcohol, you can always replace your drinks with soft drinks, coffee, or tea.

  1. Don’t give up

It is a difficult journey; you can’t win this in a day or two. You have to be holding on to the hopes and keep reminding yourself why you are doing this.
